Altered blood rheology in multiwidth microchannels: Hematocrit and tonicity variation

چکیده
We present a theoretical model for the characterization of behavior Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids inside microchannel with segments different widths. This allows us to find relation required have collapsed viscosity curves in just one experiment. Diverse experiments been carried out our setup. consider hematocrit concentration samples as well blood altered solutions order modify their tonicity. The data are acquired using microscale electronic detection fluid/air front advance. will disclose diseases that can be distinguished by change normal rheological characteristics or plasma. results obtained demonstrate setup mathematical model, we both distinguish concentrations erythrocytes discriminate when same sample is non-altered, sodium chloride (NaCl) de-ionized water (DIW), which emulates abnormalities red cells some pathologies. show DIW causes more behavior. On other hand, NaCl become hypertonic solution, causing crenate,

Hemodilution, Tonicity, and Blood Viscosity.
Since the introduction of intravenous therapy, fluids containing glucose or saline in relatively isotonic concentrations have far exceeded others in use. Within the last decade new techniques in many areas of diagnosis and treatment have required that fluids of various tonicity and viscosity be introduced into the blood stream with such rapidity or in such great volume as to preclude adequate d...
متن کاملTianma Modulates Blood Vessel Tonicity
Tianma is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) often used for the treatment of hypertension and heart diseases. To elucidate the function of tianma at the molecular level, we investigated the effect of tianma on vascular functions and aortic protein metabolism. We found that long-term treatment with tianma (~2.5g/kg/day for three months) in one-year-old rats could enhance acetylcholine (ACh)-in...
متن کاملBlood rheology and aging
The flow properties of blood play significant roles in tissue perfusion by contributing to hydrodynamic resistance in blood vessels. These properties are influenced by pathophysiological processes, thereby increasing the clinical relevance of blood rheology information. There is well-established clinical evidence for impaired blood fluidity in humans of advanced age, including enhanced plasma a...
متن کاملBlood rheology and hemodynamics.
Blood is a two-phase suspension of formed elements (i.e., red blood cells [RBCs], white blood cells [WBCs], platelets) suspended in an aqueous solution of organic molecules, proteins, and salts called plasma. The apparent viscosity of blood depends on the existing shear forces (i.e., blood behaves as a non-Newtonian fluid) and is determined by hematocrit, plasma viscosity, RBC aggregation, and ...
متن کامل: metadiscourse in introduction sections of applied linguistics and physics research articles: exploring variation in frequency and type
abstract in written mode of language, metadiscourse markers are used commonly to help writers in general and academic writers in particular to produce coherent and professional texts. the purpose of the present study was to compare introduction sections of applied linguistics and physics articles regarding their use of interactive and interactional metadiscourse markers based on the model pro...
